Okay, I don’t even know where to begin.
I’m too busy to write a real “article”. Just read the above link and sit back and wonder what has become of America.
So let me get this straight — technology can be used against us – a camera at every red light, a tap on every phone, RFID chips on anything and everything, camera blockers to stop you from taking pictures of abuse, etc. etc.
But we can’t have video cameras in our own home?!?!?!?
What the fuck?
What the fuck?
What the fuck?
What the fuck?
What the fuck?

That’s fucked up. However, in this case, I think its just corrupt cops trying to cover their own ass. That charge should never stick in court though. If it does, then I don’t know what this world is coming to.

I rate my confidence level in the charges standing at 75%. The problem is — where are the new stories that follow-up on previous stories? How do we find out, 2 years from now, when the courts are through, what the final verdict was? There needs to be a news service dedicated to finding the “true endings” of OLD news…

It’s that age old problem with the news: The “true endings” to old news won’t win more viewers / readers, so there’s no incentive to follow through. The bulk of journalists move on to the next exciting thing instead of hanging around on the older, less sensational news.
In Virginia, you can sort of track case progress via the court case searches on the state web sites. But it’s a pain. We tracked a few of our neighborhood sex offenders this way and found some interesting information.

I agree with Christian, but I also feel like that kind of dictatorial culture is spreading throughout all the police departments. You seem to hear more and more stories like this, especially where no-knock searches are concerned. There are a lot of cases where the cops screw up and get the wrong address, then either keep harassing the person to avoid admitting their mistake, or if the person defends themselves they get prosecuted to the fullest extent for resisting [the wrongful] arrest.
The sad truth is that you just can’t assume a reasonable attitude on the part of the police anymore.

Yea, why don’t they just use their camera-busting technology if they are so scared? heh.
