Thursday night (3/29) I saw Gene Ween of Ween do a solo show. It was fantastic! Read John The Canadien’s review. Tracklist and more review below.
So, the show was at The State Theatre in Falls Church. I had no idea that bands played there; I thought it was just another movie theatre. I guess that explains why I always saw police around there when I went to the Kaiser-Permanente Urgent Care Center that is across the street. There’s not normally a need a police a movie theatre.
Anyway, it was also a non-smoking venue. I’d never heard of such a thing. A band playing music without the ability to smoke? Okay, that was a small sacrifice to make for seats. Yes, the show was seated. I haven’t been to a seated concert since my first concert ever (the Moody Blues … with my parents). I definitely preferred it. They also had seated dinner tables; people could eat dinner at a table during the show. This was just strange. Bands I see don’t do things like that usually.

The show was excellent; definitely a great experience for any hardcore Ween fan. This show also rewarded those of us who know all the off-album songs by slipping a few of those in. So nice to hear Ween songs I’ve NEVER heard!
