Still not named. Suggestions: Glen suggests Danzig, following in our pattern of our last two cats (Samhain and Misfit). Clint suggests Beavis. Carolyn has so far suggested Shub-Niggurath (the final boss in Quake) and Lughnasadh (another Sabbat, like Samhain). This thing can’t be named Shub-Niggurath, and Lughnasadh is impossible to pronounce and spell!

Mr. Sugarmittens

haha, Melanie already suggested “Mr. Chompers” back when we got Misfit. And of course there is “Mr. Pickles” and “Mr. Pants”.

My suggestion of Shub-Niggurath was vetoed!

“Cat.”
It’s name is what it is!

Cthulhu! Or, try out some of the other “Great Old One” names:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Old_One#Table
I am partial to “Bokrug” and “Dweller In The Gulf”.
“The Worm That Gnaws In The Night” is also quite good.
And then there are the Elder Gods:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elder_God_%28Cthulhu_Mythos%29
I would totally name a new pet “Vorvadoss”. A.K.A.: “The Flaming One, Lord of the Universal Spaces, The Troubler of the Sands, Who Waiteth in the Outer Dark”.

Some of those are even harder to pronounce/spell than Lughnasadh. :)
This description is funny: “Ach’ narrgutha The evil toad A brown globulous fiend of pain”

@Carolyn:
Why don’t you just name it in Klingon. Then none of us will ever be able to pronounce its name. :)

OMG. Shub-Niggurath was in ‘Quake?’ You guys know it’s an H.P. Lovecraft being, right?
If you guys name it after a Lovecraftian god/Great Old One I will be so happy! And amused as hell!
P’s cat was almost named Nyarleothotep! But at the last minute he changed his mind, heh.

Shub-Niggurath was the final boss for Quake, and yea, I looked it up on wikipedia after Carolyn suggested the name.
I don’t want a ‘hard’ name though.
I still want to name it Beavis.
September 13, 2007 at 10:47 AM
I second Beavis!
September 13, 2007 at 11:15 AM
I suggested Moltar last night, but it looks like it might end up being Beavis.
And Parthena, I looked up Shub-Niggurath on wikipedia too. Nyarleothotep is a mouthful!
September 13, 2007 at 11:29 AM
It definitely is! Haha, Peter’s old roomate pleaded with him not to name the cat that, along with the opinions of some others. He eventually decided that he wanted another name, anyway.
Oh, there’s always “Zod”, if you want to be REALLY geeky. Where is Moltar from??
September 13, 2007 at 11:40 AM
Moltar is from Space Ghost Coast To Coast… :) Zod is from Smallville, AFAIK
September 13, 2007 at 12:58 PM
You don’t have to stick with the “hard” name “Shub-Niggurath”. You can always call him “Shub” for short.
Li’l Shub.
Shubbie.
Mr. Shubs.
Shub Love.

I also don’t like that “Nuggurath” will basically make some people think we are saying “Nigger”…
The sad thing is, I don’t need to click on the Bubb Rubb link. I know EXACTLY who you are talking about. “It’s just like a’ alarm clock. You should be up, makin’ eggs.”

I said to call him “Niggurath” for short. but that’s been vetoed, so moving on. :)
Moltar is from Space Ghost Coast to Coast.

We decided on Beavis. It was a tough call between Thundercleese, Moltar, and Beavis.
While camping, there were also some other names added to the mix: “Meat Puppet” which became “Meaty”, and “MeatWad”, which became “CatWad”. But we decided to stick with Beavis.
At the vet today, this 55-60-year-old woman asked if I have a Butt-Head at home.

If you get him some catnip, are you going to call him Cornholio while he’s going nuts?
September 18, 2007 at 8:30 AM
Hahha, that’s a great idea!!! BTW, he doesn’t respond to catnip yet.
September 18, 2007 at 8:32 AM
That’s a damn good idea, HokieTT!
September 18, 2007 at 10:47 AM
He needs kitty litter for his bunghole!
September 18, 2007 at 2:57 PM
Hey, none of that. If any of you start calling him Cornholio, I’ll have to sue you for copyright infringment. If you look at my Avatar on Flickr, we all know I’M the cornholio of the group, and I can’t have any competition. Not even by a cat. Now who do I send that cease and desist to? I’ll need Beavis’s full first and last name, so he can be served his papers. :))

I have the DMCA counterclaim paperwork, y’know! hehe
