COPYRIGHT: RIAA jury finds Minnesota single mother liable for mp3 piracy, awards $222,000
The attorney for the record companies, Richard Gabriel, spoke to reporters outside the courthouse.”This is what can happen if you don’t settle,” he said.
(The average cost of settling can buy about 250 cds.)

This is some 1984 shit right here.AAP encourages doctors to ignore “legal barriers and deference to parental involvement”.
“…law enforcement let Debbie know…her Doc…filed a report with the police about her family’s entirely legal gun owners

COPYRIGHT: Verdict Reached In RIAA Trial
This sucks. But on the bright side, she can declare bankruptcy, and the RIAA will still ultimately lose money.
Also: 401(k) and IRA accounts are exempt from civil lawsuit, so if she has a retirement account, it wont be touched. Did you know that?

The people’s republic of china does not want you to use technology as you see fit.If only this were a phenomenon limited to China, I would not be so worried.
RSS is awesome. http://reader.google.com

WAR ON DRUGS: Kentucky sues makers of OxyContin
Bullshit! We have millions of americans in chronic pain BECAUSE of this crap.
News flash: People who are in pain need pain killers that work.
It is impossible to have these without a potential for abuse.
GET USED TO IT. Keep your laws off my body. -
ABUSE OF AUTHORITY?: Do curfew laws really make children safer?
Or is it just another expansion of police powers, allowing them to pepper-spray 15 year old black girls for resisting arrest?Video included. Lots of screaming.
And since when were names of minors released, anyway? Now she’ll be googleable as an adult.

P2P: Optimize Your BitTorrent Download Speed
I might try some of these tweaks, but then again, it’s fast enough for me.
300M in 12 minutes is just fine. -
P2P: How To Encrypt BitTorrent Traffic
This should be useful for Comcast users who have had their bittorrent traffic throttled down to uselessness. This is also why we need net neutrality.

FINANCE: Another U.S. Bank Closed Amid Failing Economy And Crashing U.S. Dollar
How does this work exactly? The FDIC compiles a list of information on how you can get your own money back? Do I trust my own bank?!

Abuse of authority: Pepper spray
Now let me make this clear here. I absolutely disagree with curfew laws. They should be challenged and overturned. But it’s still the law. And in this case there was asolutely no abuse of authority. Did you actually read the whole article? Did you watch the video? Yes, the girl got pepper sprayed. AFTER she BIT the officer on the arm. SHE BIT HIM!! She’s lucky she didn’t get tasered.
FDIC:
FDIC is a good thing. Basically insurance for the bank. Insurance in the consumers favor. It means if the bank fucks up and goes bankrupt or gets robbed, etc…, your money is insured. Even if the bank can’t pay back your money cause they invested it elsewhere(this is how banks make money), FDIC will make sure your money is not lost. Up to $100,000. Bank fucks up, your money is safe. Don’t ever do business with a bank that is not FDIC insured.

Yes I watched the video. Be that as it may, he also stated that he had protective gloves that would prevent injury, which sort of contradicts the “she almost took a chunk of flesh out” quote. Of course, that is the part that conveniently happened before he turned the camera on. So I don’t think it’s quite 100% absolute — because as the police are so fond of saying in Rodney King-type situations: This video was only a short part of the encounter, and the context before was not actually included and only alleged.

Gloves only protect up to the wrist. Due to the camera angle, It’s not easy to tell exactly where he was bitten(arm/wrist). But please don’t try to tell me that trying to bite doesn’t constitute resisiting arrest. The video clearly shows her trying to bite him.
I think the part about “she almost took a chunk of flesh out” was probably referring to that. No, we don’t know what happened before the camera was turned on. And I think in this case its probably quite irrelevant.
From what I saw in the video. Girl was being a punk ass bitch. She resisted. She got what she deserved.

Having seen the video, I still think the cop was in the right in this case.
