I like this one.

I don’t think you’d like my answer. Asking apple to put the same hardware in a laptop vs dell will cost you TRIPLE. Same for RAM. Paying triple for hardware because you like software makes no sense, but it’s apparently an excellent business model.

It’s a shame that the DEA will basically be able to stop people from a tradition that long outdates this country.

It’s so easy to ignore violations of rights when the group is unpopular. Why do you think Slavery lasted for almost 100 years after the Constitution? If someone is THAT much of a problem, then the state should be paying for them to be in prison for life.
-
If you think sex is legal, and movies are legal, and thus movies of sex should be legal… Vote with your wallet, buy this porn, and contribute to fighting the religious censorship of something MOST PEOPLE WANT.

And that’s the war on drugs in a summary: An erosion of our rights, and a setup for the war on terror where even more rights erode. You can be jailed – FOR NOTHING – due to people’s hysteria. We’re like China or Russia, except we imprison at a higher rate

An article about the government’s intrusion into every technology. They want remote kill switches for all vehicles — and they’ll get it. As for OnStar? That allows the govt to listen to your in-car conversations!

He was arrested by the sober police and charged. I wonder how underly-hrash his punishment will be? I’m guessing a 100% clean record after a probationary period. If you did this to a cop you’d be in jail for 18+ months.

Bad idea. Underground club? Underground rave? Busy house party? The last thing you want is for the police to know you have 50 people at your house. This is opt-in, but the data is still out there. How long til we have to jam cellphones to have a party?

UPDATE: RE: ABUSE OF AUTHORITY: Drunk as shit Pittsburg police officer Paul Abel goes nuts after 2 black guys fight with him — finds a 3rd person (RANDOMLY) and pistol-whips him for no reason:

Man testifies he had no idea why off-duty officer shot him
So wait — it wasn’t just a pistol-whip? He actually SHOT the guy? That information was NOT in the original news article! How does a shooting get dumbed down to a beating?
“Abel, 35, of Banksville is on trial on accusations that he pistol-whipped and shot Miller, who was walking home from a trip to CoGo’s about 2 a.m. June 28 in the South Side.”
“Two tow truck drivers backed up Abel’s story that he was punched, but the drivers testified Miller was not one of the men who hit Abel.”
Too bad for off-duty cop Abel that there were witnesses. He’s probably used to being able to beat and shoot whoever he wants…

City police officer cleared of South Side assault charge
“[Judge] Manning chastised Abel for the June 28 incident but said it did not rise to the level of a crime.”
So let me get this straight. An off-duty drunk cop can get into a fight, have a case of mistaken identity, and go shoot/pistol whip someone uninvolved in front of multiple witnesses…
…and get away with it?!?!?! WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?!
Yes, this is why police need to be held to the same conduct off-duty as on-duty. Because when they pull shit like this while off-duty, they are cleared by the fact that they are acting in official capacity.

Despite the police chief wanting him fired, union arbitrator has reinstated him:

Police chief says, “”How can we maintain the trust of the public when we can’t terminate someone when excessive force is used?”
