Just watched Kurt & Courtney (1998). I actually was taken aback a bit, because I had expected a movie. It was really a documentary. (I had a similar experience with Crumb (1994).)

Anyway, it was an interesting documentary that more or less held my interest throughout the 95 minutes it ran.

Some of the characters were utterly ridiculous. Courtney Love is ridiculous too. She went from not knowing Kurt Cobain, to owning everything Kurt Cobain ever worked for, within just a few years. I think they said 3.

That’s some good whoring.

They also interviewed a guy named Il Duce, who may as well have been a cartoon character. Very strange guy. At one point he says nothing, looks at the camera for about 15 seconds, and then screams (like a “boo!” kind of scream), and smiles at how funny he is.

A strange guy. He also passed a polygraph test, during which he claimed that Courtney Love approached him with a $50,000 offer to kill Kurt Cobain via a shotgun blast to the head.

They also had a toxicologist(?) talk about how the heroin level in Kurt Cobain’s bloodstream was so high, he would not have been able to pull the trigger. But to refute him, they mentioned that it can take 30 to 60 seconds for the heroin to “hit” you after injecting. (I always thought it was instant, especially after watching Requiem for a Dream (2000).)

All in all, I now think it’s much more likely that Courtney Love killed Kurt Cobain than I previously thought. But, like O.J. Simpson, no one will ever truly know.

I also found a Nirvana punk tribute album yesterday too, but that was a coincidence. (it features Agent Orange, among other artists.)
