Well, I’ve complained about asshole drivers before (see the Categories list on my sidebar — note the ‘Drivers’ sub-category under ‘People That Annoy Me’, under ‘Complaints’).

Unfortunately, yesterday the asshole driver was me

I accidentally ran this red light (new commute I’ve only taken 15 times or so, plus I was out late and only got 5 hrs sleep) and almost hit this old man who pulled in front of me.

He was (reasonably) pissed off about the whole thing, and pulled up next to me.

I rolled my window down to let him chew me out — after all, I chew out and beep and flash brights and flick off people on a daily basis for being shitty drivers, so it’s only fair that I let others do the same to me (when I actually deserve it).

He told me what I did, and I apologized several times, something that most drivers in-the-wrong categorically refuse to do.  “Jesus Christ!” he said.  I was kind of hoping he would flick me off, or maybe cuss me out a bit.  I’ve cursed extensively at other people, and I’m kind of curious as to what it’s like to be on the receiving end of that.

I know what it’s like to be on the receiving end of a cuss-out unfairly, or to have someone try to run me off the road because they are pissed off that I flicked them off because they almost ran me off the road (people are pretty illogical, doing the same thing that caused me to flick them off as revenge for flicking them off).

But I kind of wanted to know what it’s like to be on the receiving end of a cuss-out fairly

Either way, I was careful to notice the red light today (of course it was green).  Hopefully I’ll learn to not do that again.
