A subversive ad campaign for Aqua Teen Hunger Force caused the whole city of Boston to totally freak out. Magnetic light displays were mistaken for possible bombs. The displays included one of characters flicking you off. The governor was not happy. No word yet from Ignignot. Pictured to the right is the bomb squad — removing an advertisement for an 11-minute cartoon for adults. Boy, when they say “The only thing to fear is fear itself”, I completely understand. It’s scary that this is how they think they are protecting us from a terror attack.  Read on for comments which include links to flickr photos, other news items, and other people having gotten in trouble for similar things.

I have no idea where I got this, but it was during a period of time when I was on the internet and was reading some semi-spiritual/philosophical type texts (more for the fantasy aspect, really).  I have NO IDEA where this came from, or even when, but I would estimate around 1993ish.   And now, The Game Of The Two Oracles. I will be doing a series of posting on old-school computer memories. Some will be from the BBS days, and some will be from the “old school non-bbs computing” days, i.e. the DOS days, the pre-web days of the internet, etc.

I am doing this because I am recovering files from a ~1996 4G harddrive crash that I literally lost my dreams in. (Well, I lost a text file containing a journal of my dreams for many years. And other very valuable personal logs that can never be replaced.)

Anyway, I present you with a crazy email forward I got in 1996:

VOTER FRAUD: Diebold Security Foiled Again

  • Diebold posted a picture of the key to open their e-voting machines online. A man crafted 3 keys using the picture, and successfully opened a Diebold machine using them. It seems like something new comes out every couple months about Diebold’s lack of security almost every week.  Most exploits are electronic; this one is physical. (more…)

3-year-old news: Anyone remember “V: The Mini-Series”, “V: The Series”, and “V: The Final Battle”? I watched these when I was 10 or so and loved them. Well, a sequel mini-series is currently in contract negotiations (still, 3 years later, in 2006). “V: The Second Generation [click for IMDB].” Another (better, 3-years-old) article on it is HERE, at FilmRot.com.

I certainly hope the story about Israeli trying to drop a nuke twice as powerful as Hiroshimia is false. However, it was just a few weeks ago that the Times Online in UK broke a story that Israel planned this strike in the first place.  Read on, please, for details on this, voting fraud indictments in Ohio, and a New Hampshire elected official who forwarded one of his contituents’ political letters directly to the local police.

“I Shouldn’t Be Alive” is a documentary series. Check out the episode summaries. Carolyn & I have only watched one episode in its near-entirety, the one where a helicopter crashes — inside an active volcano. It was amazing. The stories really make you think about crazy situations that don’t normally happen. Anyway, it got me to thinking… Hey! *I* shouldn’t be alive either.

This is a philosophical rant, not a review of the TV show. Hitler is mentioned, as is Vietnam, and knife-wielding maniacs.

ABUSE OF AUTHORITY/TECHNOLOGY WAR: TASERS: Stunning Revelations — In These Times

This is a story worth reading. Exploisions, vans crashing into telephone poles which burned for an hour, downed power lines, and a probable death. All within 20 feet of my driveway. Read on for more. (more…)
