If we spend billions to fight a war on terror because terrorists are a threat to our life, and if the flu kills 20,000 Americans every year, then I must ask: Why are we not spending the money we spend on Iraq on universal health care? If the purpose of the war on terror is to protect human lives, aren’t there cheaper ways to do so? Obviously the real reasons for the war on are not what the administration likes to say they are.

Please don’t respond with arguments against universal health care. Americans are less healthy on average
than many countries that provide it. I’m not interested in that argument for the moment. I am interested in the fact that the money we spend to save 1 live from terrorism could save untold numbers of people from things as simple as the flu.
