Cops are so abusive that even other cops are scared to make sudden movements in front of them — especially when the cops are tasering their own seargent.
State supreme court upholds conviction For Sex With Stepdaughter — but should sex between 2 consenting adults ever be illegal, even in a morally objectionable situation? I tend to say NO.
Plus: “Bong Hits For Jesus” case goes to the supreme court, with Ken Starr on the ‘wrong’ side (he hates blow jobs and bong hits). This is an important free speech case for students; like the black armbands protesting the Vietnam war.

ha-ha: Cops stop cop Sergeant at gunpoint, Taser him — OOPS.
I like how the cop who got tasered by the other cop was too scared to reach for his I.D.That speaks VOLUMES about how easily police can kill and get away from it. EVEN OTHER POLICE are scared.

SEX?: State Supreme Court Upholds Conviction For Sex With Stepdaughter
I mean…. What if the mother/daughter pair are into that? You go to jail?It’s a dillema, that’s for sure.
She was 22. So you can be registered for having sex with a 22-year-old now?
I don’t know what to think.

DRUG WAR: “Bong Hits For Jesus” case continued, Ken Starr on the wrong side
Having been nearly arrested for excercizing MY free speech rights at a school function (sister’s graduation), I find the freedom of speech of students — when NOT at school — are being trampled. This case is going the supreme court.

Funny, I just blogged about a German case where a brother and sister (who didn’t know about each other until adulthood), met, fell in love and have four children. The brother was put in jail here for 2 years and will go back for another 2 years if he loses his case to get the law repealed (it most likely will be).
I think whatever two consenting adults want to do with each other is fine. As long as their is no force or coercion, who cares? And a 22 year old should be old enough to decide for herself, although if her mom and this guy were still married, she and the stepdad obviously were not showing very good judgement or respect for the mom and this family has issues. But still, stupidity/bad judgement is not illegal.

That IS funny, Christina! I guess there are a bunch of incest coincidences going on… An Incestolypse, if you will. Only fightable via Incesticide.
But anyway, yes. I agree with you. You are the voice of sanity here.

About that cop tasering the other cop, I think it’s messed up that the article doesn’t indicate that the guy who has had previous complaints is being punished for his part in the incident. It sounds to me like it started because that guy, Ragusa, pushed Jackson into the back of the vehicle. Jackson may have thrown that punch in response to that. And now Jackson is the one being investigated? That’s messed up.

Re: the stepdaughter article-
I think I agree with you, too; it might be weird and sort of gross for most people to think of family members having sex with each other, but ILLEGAL? I don’t know.
I think the law was mostly put into place because of the rationale that inbreeding causes lots of birth defects (potentially) and it’s basically creating a line of people with bad genes, or something, who, if they continue to inbreed, will continue to basically screw up the genepool or something. But, I’m not scientist and have no idea if that’s actually true…hehe.

@Carolyn RE:Cop:
They probably BOTH need to be investigated!
@Parthena/Chriggy:
The law doesn’t come from genetics per se, it originally comes from common law which came from Christian tradition — which was based on genetics, except they didn’t have genetics thousands of years ago. They just knew that those kids came out FUCKED UP. SO it was “empirical data”. But basically, genetics is why. But the social tradition of hating incest has been around for quite awhile. THAT’S why the law is on the books, in my opinion.
I’d like to know how Idiocracy works into this — guess I’ll find out when I watch it! :)

And no comments on the bonghits for Jesus?
That fucking sucked, being made to turn my pro-legalization shirt inside out, as a 23-year-old adult, at a public event — a high-school graduation at a public shool with several thousand attendees.
I refused as each administrator bubbled up the chain of command — until the cop came.
This case could have been my battle! But it’s easier to let someone else fight it…
My dad wore the shirt out of the graduation. NOT inside out.

That really surprises me, regarding them making you turn your shirt inside out–I’ve been to tons of events like that where there was no dress code whatsoever! Very strange. It’s not like you wore it to a private Church event, haha.
Chriggy–Yes, that was the impression I’d gotten, also (a taboo actually based on empirical evidence, as Clint said). Although, yeah, nowadays I have no idea whether it’d really screw with the gene pool or not, especially if the people in question use birth control and don’t plan on having children.

UPDATE: Student looses “Bong Hits For Jesus” case.
His dad also lost his job over the fight! He worked for the company that insures the Juneau schools, so his employer fired him because of the lawsuit! What the fuck! (The father sued his ex-employer and won $200,000.)
Anyway, this is what Kenneth Star does, nowadays. Fight student expression.
This is a loss for free speech, a loss for student rights, and a bit of a loss for the drug war as well (by stifling discussion)…

P.S. The justices that voted “right” (i.e. pro-freedom) were appointed by Clinton, Clinton, Ford, and Bush #1.
