[IMDB summary] This was an interesting movie that held our attention, however it did seem to be sort of a generic chase-the-money (via kidnapping & ransom) movie as well. There were some intense scenes… And there was a pretty good twist, which makes the whole movie much better than you think it is up to that twist.

There were also some good characters, like the “strongman” (henchman) guy who was very soft-spoken, but would play russian roulette with 3 bullets just to show you what a badass he really is. Or the main female lead… She starts out as the who makes everything go irreversibly wrong, but by the end of the movie, she is the only one making anything any better. Semi-spoilers within.

SEMI-SPOILERS: Because the main female lead was the cause of all the problems — and then later the solution — I thought perhaps this movie was about her spiritual transformation into a less harmful individual. But then she goes and does that thing she does in the final scene, and I have to wonder…. Is she really any different at all?? Probably not, and she even admits this herself — “I’ll keep you posted”. She’s probably still willing to kidnap after the movie is over, but she’s generally not willing to murderer (without good reason). Still, her character did go from compassionless to having at least a modicum of compassion.

I guess that’s what happens when you lose your virginity in a meat locker. “To this day I can’t look at a steak without getting wet.”

RANDOM: The beach scene at the end reminds me of Wild Things for some reason.

COINCIDENCES: 2 movies in a week that use The Cure’s “Just Like Heaven”. Judas Kiss & The Rules Of Attraction.

Thanks for the recommendation, Jon.
