HAIKU REVIEW: Poor Futurama.
Resurrected so briefly.
I’m gonna miss you.
QUIRKS: Your standard Futurama quirks: tons of hilarity!
VISUALS: As good as any Futurama!
POLITICS: Environmentalism expressed within a science fiction framework.
BAD STUFF: The bad part is that it’s over. This is the last Futurama production. The 4 movies will still be split up into 16 episodes and shown on Comedy Central — with a couple minutes not included in the movies as a “bonus” for completist viewers. Sadly, Futurama did not resurrect with the support of Family Guy. Fox didn’t air it, so they had to settle for direct-to-DVD movies that will then be syndicated to Comedy Central. This is not really a way to keep a series alive, unfortunately. And Futurama is far more charming than Family Guy, so it’s so very sad to see it go. At least it was resurrected!
RECOMMENDATION: Any fan should watch this immediately, and then go cry and cut themselves in an emo fit of post-cartoon depression. Get the DVD/BluRay when it is officially released on Feb 24th.
BUT WAIT!!! IT MIGHT NOT BE OVER!!!:
Billy West says Fox may be interested in a 6th season for television, based on the DVD sales. Cross your fingers, everyone!
MOVIE QUOTE: Hermes Conrad: Bender, are you crazy?
Bender: Nooo, it’s Fry who’s crazy in this one!
FRIENDS’ RATINGS: We watched this with Tabbitha, Parthena, John The Canadien, and Laszlo. Everyone seemed to like it! We then proceeded to watch the season premieres of Tim And Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! and Xavier:Renegade Angel, as well as Robot Chicken, Family Guy, American Dad, and The Simpsons. It was the best night of prime cartoonage in quite awhile!
