I sent an mp3 of this song out as a “Christmas card” of sorts (since I don’t believe in Christmas Cards) to some friends before. I thought it was an original song, but it turns out to be a cover from a 1951 animated short:

The lyrics from the Ween Soul Coughing version, which might actually be Soul Coughing, pretty much match this…

Very interesting to find something out after liking the song for over 3 years and listening to it every Christmas season.

And while we’re on the topic of vintage Christmas stop-motion animation — here’s a Russian stop-motion Xmas animation from *1913*. Wow. This is probably the oldest cartoon I’ve ever watched:

Here comes Suzy Snowflake,

Dressed in a snow-white gown.

Tap-tap-tappin’ at your window pane

To tell you she’s in town

If you wanna make a snowman

I’ll help you make one, 1-2-3.

And if you wanna take a sleigh ride,

The ride’s on me!

Here comes Suzy Snowflake,

Look at her tumblin’ down.

Bringing joy to every girl & boy,

Suzy’s come to town.

??(mumble)

??(mumble)

If you wanna take a snowman,

I’ll help you take one, 1-2-3.

And if you wanna make a sleigh ride,

The ride’s on me!

Here comes Suzy Snowflake,

Look at her tumblin’ down.

Bringing joy to every girl & boy,

Suzy’s gone to town.

Mood: still digesting breakfast
