Well, here is our list of 2009 movies we watched. We decided to break comedy off into its own post, since we watched so many (245, 89 of which are listed here).

•best OVERALL comedy: The Hangover, Sex Drive, Jackass 2, Fanboys, Miss March. Honorable mention: Role Models, other Jackass “movies”.
•best comedy cast: Wet Hot American Summer
•best dark comedy: Observe And Report. Honorable Mention: Jawbreaker.
•best caper comedy: Sex Drive, Fanboys, Miss March, The Stoned Age
•best college comedy: Carolyn:National Lampoon’s Van Wilder 1 (not 2), College (2008)
•best alcohol comedy: The Hangover (Strange Brew deserves an honorable mention)
•best pot comedy: Pineapple Express, The Stoned Age (but it’s not *really* a pot-heavy movie)
•best ecstacy/LSD comedy: When Do We Eat?
•best family awkwardness comedy: When Do We Eat?
•best reality comedy: Jackass 2 & 2.5
•best sci-fi comedy: Land Of The Lost & Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel. Summer Time Machine Blues was certainly interesting… But British humor > Japanese humor.
•best spoof comedy: Totally Awesome
•best sports comedy: Foot Fist Way
•most insane comedic dialog: Female Trouble
•worst spoof movie: Plump Fiction
•worst college comedy: Fraternity House
•worst OVERALL comedy: Fraternity House, Plump Fiction

•Fanboys (2008) – geek paradise
•Foot Fist Way, The (2006) – relatively unknown
•Hangover, The (2009)
•I Love You, Beth Cooper (2009) – a big surprise
•Invention Of Lying, The aka This Side Of The Truth (2009)
•Jackass 2: Number Two (2006)
•Jackass 2.5 – epic Carolyn reaction
•Jackass 3 (fake)
•Jackass: The Lost Tapes (2009)
•Land Of The Lost (2009) – got way too much hate, like all adaptations
•Miss March (2009) – similar to Fanboys
•Observe And Report (2009) – abuse of authority feelgood comedy of the year
•Role Models (2008) – McLovin’, Stiffler, and Paul Rudd FTW
•Sex & Death 101 (watched again–still a great and unique movie!)
•Sex Drive (unrated) (2008) – crass, but amazing. Seth Green as a sarcastic Amish?!
•Stoned Age, The (1993) – way better than Dazed & Confused
•Strange Brew (1983) – a classic Carolyn hadn’t seen!

**** 4-star (high):

•Choke (2008) – quirky, although kind of not a comedy in a way
•I Love You, Man (2009) – bromance of the year
•National Lampoon’s Beach Party At The Threshold Of Hell – watched again, with friends who got so drunk they had no idea what happened. They should watch it again…This barely feels like National Lampoon, as it was something independent they picked up. I hope the sequel comes out, but at this point, it probably wont.

**** 4-star:

•17 Again – great for anyone with regrets
•American Pie 7: The Book Of Love (2009) – best American Pie since the original trilogy
• Big Nothing (2006) – black comedy
•Bruno (2009) + Howard Stern On Demand appearance [disturbing] + DiggNation appearance
•Envy – forgot to review this, but pretty damn funny! IMDB: 7/10, Netflix: 4/5.
•Extract (2009) – Mike Judge’s worst yet? Still good.
•Extreme Movie – very surprising that this made it to the 4-star list
•Female Trouble (1974) – John Waters!
•Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel (2009) – British time travel comedy!
•*Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer — see HORROR/THRILLER section, since it’s a horror-comedy
•Jawbreaker (1999) – a more modern Heathers-lite of sorts
•John Tucker Must Die (2006) – high school conspiracy galore
•Made For Each Other (2009)
•Mean Girls – rewatched without Carolyn; better than I remember
•Pineapple Express (2008) – disappointing in that it was barely a comedy
•Yes Man (2008) – great gimmick!
•Sama Taimumashin Burusu (Summer Time Machine Blues) – another foreign time travel comedy!
•Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
•Totally Awesome (2006) – great unknown spoof of 80’s movies
•When Do We Eat? (2005) aka My Big Fat Jewish Sadr – best family drug movie ever

*** 3-star (high):

•National Lampoon’s Van Wilder 1 (2002) – still a must see
•Wake Up Ron Burgundy – The Lost Movie (2004) – the lost movie isn’t quite as good as the real movie, but is still funny
•Wag The Dog (1998) – didn’t like it as much as I was told I would

•8 Heads In A Duffel Bag – great gimmick
•50 Pills aka Fifty Pills (2006)
•4 Christmases (2008) – great to watch around the holidays
•Ace Ventura 2: When Nature Calls
•All Tied Up (1993) – Terry Hatcher tying a dude up!
•American Virgin (2009) – not to be confused with the 2000 movie of the same name with Mena Suvari
•American Pie 6: Beta House (2007)
•Assassination Of A High School President (2008)
•College (2008) – still decent

•Dukes Of Hazzard 2: The Beginning (2007)

•Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008) – didn’t quite like this as much as everyone else

•Proposal, The – Sandra Bullock vs the guy who played Van Wilder
•Ringer, The (2005) – official endorsed by the Special Olympics
•Sex Pot (2009) – wow, so much nudity
•Spaceballs (1987) – FINE! I like it now! Are you all happy?!?!?!
•Step Brothers – John C. Reilly!!
•Stan Hellsing (2009) – decent horror spoof movie
•Super Capers (2009) – decent superhero spoof movie
•War On The War On Drugs, The (2005) – sketch comedy movie
•Wet Hot American Summer (2001) – BEST CAST EVER
•What Happens In Vegas (2008) – The Hangover-lite
•Year One (2009) – not as bad as everyone says

•Bad Girls Of Valley High (2000) – Monica Keene from Undeclared!
•Disaster Movie (2008)
•Long Weekend, The (2005) – I’ll try Ian’s suggestion of Roger Doger
•Without A Paddle 2: Nature’s Calling (2009) – Henry Rollins’s best role ever – ROLLAMBO!

** 2-star:

•Meet The Spartans (2008) – 300 sucked, and so does its spoof movie!
•National Lampoon’s Class Reunion (1982) – sooo cheesy… soooooo cheesy
•National Lampoon’s Vegas Vacation (1997 I think) – Yup. These were never funny, were they?
•Plump Fiction (1997) – worst spoof movie yet

* 1-star:

•Fraternity House (2008) – piece of shit!!!
•National Lampoon’s Last Resort, The (1994) [ABORTED] – could not even make it through this, which makes it the worst of the 245 movies we watched this year!
