And there's absolutely nothing he can do about it. He can't get jobs with background checks, thanks to sex offender lists. These lists don't make children safer, they simply drive offenders underground. It's the modern Scarlett Letter. This guy is completely innocent and will be treated like shit the rest of his life, thanks to the American Punitive Mindset.
This guy needs to file a lawsuit. But first, he needs his rights violated in a more damaging way, otherwise he could stand to lose a lot of money to a lawyer. He needs to have his liberty CLEARLY abused — for example being beaten by cops — before this problem can even be solved.
And that's what's fucked up with the American justice system.

The funny way the 'law' works is they are illegal to use as a weapon, but legal to use to illuminate movements. Which basically allows it to be used as a weapon with plausible deniability. "We weren't using it as a weapon, just to illuminate movements!" As if night vision and flares don't exist…
The international law needs to be more clear.
