[IMDB link] [Netflix link] A sequel, 21 years later? The original is old enough to drink!
PEOPLE: The director of Rolling Thunder, and the original writers — but none of the original cast, other than Corey Feldman, reprising his role as Edgar Frog. His voice is… kind of ridiculous. He’s trying to sound all badass. And Corey Haim reprises his Lost Boys 1 role as well–but I didn’t even notice him.
QUIRKS: Parties, and Jackass-like vampires. They stab each other in the stomach and record it on video for laughs. I’d love to see a Vampire Edition of Jackass, but [un]fortunately, vampires aren’t real.
MORALS:: I still contend that given the choice in real life, I’d become a real vampire. The higher on the food chain you are, the better. And near-immortality is fun. Plus, I would hang out in dark alleys and try to eat rapists caught in the act. I’d model my vampirism after Spawn.
BAD STUFF: Major plot hole — [highlight for spoilers]→ They talk about how hard it would be to find the main vampire nest, and then magically find it later with no explanation. In general, the movie just wasn’t great. It wasn’t really exciting.
CONCLUSION: It’s nice to see another vampire movie, but that’s all this is — one night’s mediocre entertainment.
RATINGS: Netflix: 2.5/5 stars, though I rounded that up to 3/5 stars. IMDB: 5.5/10, though I rounded that down to 5/10. Carolyn said 6, but I think closer to 5. There’s a slight bonus at the amusement of seeing a movie with both Coreys that isn’t so bad that it needs to be turned off mid-movie (like with Busted and National Lampoon’s The Last Resort).
RECOMMENDATION: Watch this with caution. It’s passable entertainment, but not a great film.
SIMILAR MOVIES: Lost Boys 3 is coming out — I bet it will be similar.
MOVIE QUOTE: [from trailer] Edgar Frog: “I’m Edgar Frog, surfboard shaper and vampire hunter.”

[…] Cell 2, The (2009) – barely any semblance to the first • Lost Boys 2: The Tribe, The – meh. Then we found out Carolyn hadn’t seen the original. Oh […]

Andrew Buch____ W_____: “That movie sucked big time…but was funny to watch. It is a series of tropes one after another. :D
Some good cameos though~”

I still gave it 3 stars on account of I was still entertained. But that’s a 3 stars *rounded up* from 2.6, that is. For me, that’s about 10th percentile. I just like movies in general…

Rev. Sinphalus Exmortus: “I like movies in general also. back when I saw the Lost Boys in theaters, I was blown away. WOW vampires are now cool. So I was kind of a little kid fanboy and it sparked interest in everything blood sucking beyond Abbott and Costello. As s…uch, i was very intersted in seeing where part 2 would go. it certainly had it’s moments but over-all i felt so embarrassed to have watched it. My wife and I made a movie night out of it and we were both kind of pissed afterwards, not the way i expect a movie night with the wife to end, especially since we watched it in bed. Angry sex is not our thing so that’s a double whammy against this film. Multiply that by two people and it’s actually more than 3 strikes for us on this film. Glad it was only a Netflix.”

I was especially embarrassed by Corey’s “Jack Bauer” voice…
