/yard sale sign/Worst yardsaleing of the year! We tried a different route, going down Burke Lake towards [ultimately] Manassas. Took all kinds of weird turns that were way off the beaten path, then would retreat, take another circuit, get on some weird turns, and then end up on a different part of our circuit. Basically, we discovered at least 3 new ways various areas we live near connect to each other. Northern Virginia really is a vast web of confusion.

Got up around 9:30AM, made it out driving by 10:15AM or so (after McDonald’s breakfast), and went out until noon or so, for a total of 1.75hours.

Total spent $8.00 plus ~$6 gas for ~35 miles of driving, for a total cost of $13. We bought only 2 items – for a total estimated value of $34, leading to a profit of $21. To earn that much after taxes you’d really have to earn $30; money saved (by not having to spend it) is actually worth more than we realize when the government’s cut is taken into consideration.

Anyway, this works out to a “wage” of $12/hr as a couple or $6/hr per person. Barely worth the effort, but at least I have a pimp costume to go with my pre-existing pimp hat, which is wayyyyy better than the pimp hat that came with the costume. And at least Carolyn has another pair of trippy shoes.

* EV stands for “Estimated Value”, which I estimate by looking things up in Google Shopping/Google/Amazon/Ebay. I don’t always deduct for an item being used, unless it’s actually in worse condition in a way that matters. I also try to only count shipping if it’s the type of thing that would need to be shipped, and only if the price isn’t “fixed” (i.e. 1 cent items that cost $10 to ship would not be $10 in person).
