I'd rather be watching TV![IMDB link] [Wikipedia link] [Not available on Netflix. Look for a download somewhere.] [At least one full ep here.] [This won’t come to dvd, either.]

PEOPLE: Created by Aaron Matthew Lee (story editor of The Cleveland Show) and comedian Jeffrey Ross, who also voices the little dog Buddy. The big dog is voiced by Tracy Morgan (Death At A Funeral 2010, Superhero Movie, Half Baked). The dogcatcher’s voice is John DiMaggio, aka Bender from Futurama. Lauren Tom from Futurama is also in this.

PLOT SUMMARY: Two dogs are best friends (a big dog and a little dog, like in 2 Stupid Dogs) … And they are trying to find their way back to New Jersey. But they keep running into celebrities!

UNCOMFORTABLE PLOT SUMMARY (inspired by this): [highlight for spoilers] Dogs insult celebrities, fail to achieve goals.

QUIRKS: Celebrity-based adult cartoon comedy.

VISUALS: Your standard dog cartoon, but with lots of celebrities. Drawn as insulting caricatures. If 2 Stupid Dogs is “Beavis & Butt-head meets two dogs”, then this series may be “Starveillance (or Celebrity Deathmatch) meets two dogs”.

POLITICS: CONTROVERSY! The only reason I ever heard of this show is because of public backlash and outrage covered by CNN. How dare Snoop Dogg walk in with 2 hot black girls on leashes? OMG, it’s mysoginistic! How dare they show it! (Would there be as much outrage if a female celebrity had males on a leash?) Plus, you know, since black people were slaves once, you can’t ever show them on leashes! That’s racist! Even when the owner is black! (Really?) Nevermind that this a satirizing Snoop Dogg in real life — he really showed up with women in leashes. I guess black people aren’t allowed to practice BDSM. People actually commented that this would make the KKK retire. People just hate it when someone else has some fun, don’t they?

Then there’s the episode pulled because it offended scientologists. Thus, episode #8 was really supposed to be episode #2. The way they depict Katie Holmes is SO HILARIOUS, with her spinning mind control eyes, and barely having the ability to speak. And their Tom Cruise depiction is hilarious too.

GOOD STUFF: Funny lambasting of celebrities. The dogs and their quest are really just a framing device to make fun of celebs.

BAD STUFF: Like most MTV animated series, there just aren’t those many episodes. With only 8 episodes, you can easily burn through this in a week..or a couple of days.

CONCLUSION: A solid adult cartoon to make fun of celebrities, who are caricatured in extremely insulting manners. If 2 Stupid Dogs was the Beavis & Butt-head of dogworld, this is the Starveillance/Celebrity Deathmatch[but without the fighting] of dogworld.

Clint: Netflix: 4/5 stars. IMDB: 8/10.

The native public rating for this series is: IMDB: 7.5/10.

RECOMMENDATION: If you can find it, and like adult cartoons and/or making fun of celebrities, then this is worth checking out.
