PLOT SUMMARY: Something is taking over the faculty. But what?

HAIKU REVIEW: Someone beat me to it already: HERE.

UNCOMFORTABLE PLOT SUMMARY (inspired by this): [highlight for spoilers] Students on cocaine binge murder several teachers.

PEOPLE: Directed by Robert Ridriguez (Sin City, Planet Terror, El Mariachi, Spy Kids.) Starring a great cast:

Clea DuVall (The Grudge, 21 Grams, But I’m A Cheerleader, Can’t Hardly Wait, Sofie from Carnivale, 7 eps Heroes). Elijah Wood (Frodo from Lord Of The Rings, Sin City, Deep Impact) as the geeky photographer kid. Bebe Neuworth (Lillith from Cheers/Frasier, Tadpole) as the sexy principal.
Salma Hayek as the school nurse. Famke Janssen (X-Men:Jean Grey, The Wackness) as the ugly-then-later-sexy teacher. Jon Stewart as the science teacher. Christopher McDonald (The House Bunny, Fanboys, Requiem For A Dream, SLC Punk!, Fatal Instinct) as a teacher. Robert Patrick (T-1000 from Terminator 2/The Last Action Hero, Bridge To Terabithia, Spy Kids) as the creepy coach. Piper Laurie (Twin Peaks, Carrie) as another teacher. Laura Harris (24:Marie Warner, the sweet sister-turned-terrorist from Season 2) as the overly-sweet blonde girl. Jordana Brewster (As The World Turns) as the bitchy high-social-status/cheerleader-type brunette. Josh Hartnett (Sin City, Black Hawk Down) as the “smart drug dealer” student. Shawn Hatosy (The Postman) as the football player who wants more.

And tiny roles by Danny Masterson (Hyde from That 70’s Show, Puff Puff Pass, Smiley Face, The Trojan War)

QUIRKS: Alien zombification. Massive cocaine use. (Though they never call it cocaine by name.)

MORALS: It pays to keep an open mind. Oh, and drugs will help keep non-comformity from taking you over! haha!

CONCLUSION: The premise and execution of this movie are a bit cliche — people being taken over by parasites in a viral fashion. However, the execution was superb, and we both ended up really liking this. Having to snort cocaine to prove you’re not an alien is pretty awesome.

RATINGS:
Clint: Netflix: 4/5 stars. IMDB: 8/10. Though I’m tempted to say 7. I felt I didn’t quite like it as much as Carolyn, who gave it: Netflix: 4/5 stars. IMDB: 8/10.

The native public rating for this movie is Netflix: 3.3/5 stars (3.4/5 stars for people who rate like me), IMDB: 6.3/10.

RECOMMENDATION: Horror lovers, lovers of body snatcher/zombie-type movies — you oughtta check this out. Also good for Clea Duval fans.

SIMILAR MOVIES: Invasion Of The Body Snatchers. The Thing.
And apparently, all of the student characters except one were based on The Breakfast Club characters. This can actually be used to figure out the twist before it happens.

MOVIE QUOTE: Stokely: [Invasion Of The] Body Snatchers is a story somebody made up, dingus. It’s located in the fiction section of the library.
Casey: Yeah, so is Schindler’s List.
