Out of the 176 movies we watched in 2010, 27 (15%) could be classified as fantasy.

Read past the jump for the lists of individual movies, separated by rating.

Click a movie title to be taken to its review. If you reached a dead page, that means the review hasn’t come out yet, but is already written. I write years ahead in my blog, so sometimes there is a backlog.

***** 5-star:

Inception (2010) – brilliant fantasy/action/psych thriller genre mashup
Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus, The (2009) – Gilliam’s back!!
Last Airbender, The (2010) – please do the next two!
Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World (2010) – listed under ACTION/ADVENTURE, but it’s also a fantasy of sorts, and one of our (if not the) favorite movies of 2010

**** 4-star:

Alice In Wonderland (2010) – coulda been better, but the 3-D was pretty neat. Eyebrows have never bothered me so much in my life
Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010) – Decent franchise, will they do more?
Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time — listed under ADVENTURE, as there’s only a modicum of fantasy in it
Terry Pratchett‘s The Hogfather (2007) – 3 hours! GREAT christmas fantasy comedy!
Terry Pratchett‘s The Colour Of Magic (2008) – 3 hours!

*** 3-star (high):

Clash Of The Titans (2010) – after all the whining I was expecting a lot worse, this was pretty good, the original looks like Land Of The Lost (the series) these days

*** 3-star:

Dorian Gray (2009) – one of many adaptations
Practical Magic (1998) – Nicole Kidman at her hottest
Wolfman, The
Science Of Sleep, The (2006) – pretentious & predictable with moments of brilliance
Twilight 3: Eclipse (2010) – better than the 2nd one

*** 3-star (low):

Twilight 2: New Moon (2009) – 1st one was better. so was the 3rd one.

*** 2-star:

Where The Wild Things Are (2009) – bottom-tenth adaptation
Valhalla Rising (2009) – one of the 5-10 most boring in the past decade. JUST TALK ALREADY

*** 1-star:

Midnight Chronicles (2008) – the worst thing we’ve watched in a long time. Particularly bad because it tricks you into thinking it might become good, but never does.

Mood: full
Music: Gwar – Go To Hell!
