movie coverI'd rather be watching TV![IMDB link] [Netflix link] Watched in 720p, of course.

PLOT SUMMARY: The Drawn Together cast realizes their series has been canceled, and sets out to get themselves back on the air. Which is basically analogous to the path this series is now taking in real life.

QUIRKS: The 3rd prime-time adult cartoon to be revived, after Family Guy and Futurama. But now they can say Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck. Nothing is bleeped. Brace yourselves, ’cause you’re going to see Wooldor Sockbat’s dick.

For the uninitiated, this is an animated reality show. An idea that I had before I’d ever heard of this or Total Drama Island. It’s level of crassness is about that of Family Guy and South Park.

UNCOMFORTABLE PLOT SUMMARY (inspired by this): Vile series won’t die.

PEOPLE: Same ones as in the show: Adam Carolla as Spanky Ham, Jess Harnell (Sewer Urchin in The Tick) as Captain Hero, the ridiculously hot Abbey McBride as Ling-Ling, Jack Plotnick as Xandir (Reno 911, and he was also in an episode of Nip/Tuck), Tara Strong as Toot & Princess Clara (Bubbles in the PowerPuff Girls, Barbara Gordon/Batgirl in the old 1990s Batman cartoons, Marrow in Wolverine & The X-Men, Chowder, National Lampoon’s Senior Trip), James Arnold Taylor as Wooldoor (Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars:The Clone Wars cartoon, Green Arrow in Batman:The Brave And The Bold, Harry Osborn in Spectacular Spider-Man), Cree Summer as Foxxy Love (Winifred “Freddy” Brooks in 87 eps of A Different World, Penny in Inspector Gadget, #5 in Codename:Kids Next Door, Susie Carmichael in Rugrats, Max Gibson in the 1990s Batman cartoons, Elmyra in Pinky & The Brain).

POLITICS: Plenty of making fun of Israel: There was a giant robot named I.S.R.A.E.L. And it did things like go into sleep mode in the middle of a busy highway. “Can’t you find somewhere safer to exist, ISRAEL?” The Israel jokes never stopped, and only made it that much more hilarious.

BAD STUFF: Nothing!

CONCLUSION: The original series was often funnier than the South Park that aired on the same night. And those were the versions that aired — the DVD versions had different jokes that were often censored. Having an additional dose of this great series, sans on-air censorship, was an amazing experience!

RATINGS:
Clint: Netflix: 5/5 stars. IMDB: 10/10.
Carolyn: Netflix: 5/5 stars. IMDB: 10/10.
Jon B: Netflix: 4/5 stars. IMDB: 8/10.
The native public rating for this movie is: IMDB: 6.3/10, Netflix: 3.6/5 stars (Netflix‘s predicted rating for us was 3.1/5 stars–HUH?!? Netflix is really badly off here, given our record of rating most mature animated adult comedies 5/5 stars!).

RECOMMENDATION: Fans of the original show must not forget about this crucial installment!

People who don’t know the original? Well, if you like making fun of reality TV, and like Family Guy and South Park, you’ll probably enjoy this.
