MUSIC: METAL: DEATHS: GWAR frontman Dave Brockie — aka ‘Oderus Urungus’ — found dead in Richmond, Va., home: police

First Peter Steele, now this.

Nothing to remind you that you’ve entered middle age like having all your bands slowly drop dead.

I guess if Holliston is renewed, they won’t have Oderus on every episode either.

I guess these GWAR songs I’m learning for future concerts… Will only ever be heard inside my house?

This sucks.

THIN BLUE LINE: Florida trooper arrested a cop, then was stalked & harassed by the Thin Blue Line | Police State USA

Apologists apologize for bad cops by saying they’re just a a bad apple — nevermind that the idiom of bad apple actually means “1 bad ruins them all”, because you barrel apples, and 1 bad apple in the barrel ruins every apple. NEVERMIND THAT.

It looks like we finally have a quantifiable ratio of good cop to bad cop — and it looks that the bad cops are well over a 100:1 ratio of the good cops.

This woman dared to arrest a speeder who gave chase for 6 minutes. He was a cop. She had to eventually move away in fear of her life. Gang stalking. It’s a thing. Thin Blue line at work.

The cop she arrested’s name is FAUSTO LOPEZ, AGE 35. He made excuses, then seemingly hid behind the blue line.

Gee, will I get harassed for posting this, Fausto?

FREEDOM: The Police State in Review, 2013

I agree that these stories are far bigger than the bullshit that typically makes the news rounds. This article is far more worthy of being read than the combination of every CNN and Fox News article that comes out over a week.

I had forgotten how police dumped 100+ bullets into multiple vehicles full of complete innocents who did nothing to provoked simply because they were on a bloodhunt for Dorner.

Their names were never even released – That is not democracy or freedom. Government shooting innocents without releasing the name of the people who did it is exactly why every American needs to own a gun. Not a musket. An assault rifle. Not advocating sedition here – but simply put, the power needs to be squarely in the hands of the people.

A government is supposed to fear its people: Thomas Jefferson said this for chrissakes. When people are scared of the govt, it is tyranny.

Very sad article.

Anyone know what happened to Robert Trudell?

BIG BROTHER: The Surveillance Speech: A Low Point in Barack Obama’s Presidency – Conor Friedersdorf – The Atlantic

And yet, there are many who still think Obama is a good president because he’s better than McCain would have been.

That’s kind of like saying vomit is a good food because it’s better than eating feces.

This is a nice deconstruction of Obama’s bullshit, which half the country seems to swallow hook, line, and sinker.

Obama has taken away as much civil liberty as Bush at this point, if not more.

Great job.

CARTOONS: What’s so funny ‘bout peace, love, and BronyCon?

City Paper had a featured article on BronyCon. It kinda sheds light and explains things and is generally a well-written, well thought out article.

SCIENCE: What the Cellphone Industry Doesn’t Want You to Know About Radiation Concerns

A pretty long article talking about various science studies, and the cell phone corporations’ war against science – including a copy of one of their own memos where they talk about thwarting science.

One of the best articles I’ve read on the topic.

CORPORATIONS: Wells Fargo Forecloses On Homeowner For Making Early Mortgage Payments

Of course the worst stories (like these) are disproportionately non-white people…. which makes me wonder just how deliberate this type of targeting is.

So glad I took all my money away from these assholes, and dropped it in a local credit union instead!

Everyone should follow suit.

POLICE STATE: FBI agent states all telephone calls recorded [or at least transcribed] and accessible to the US government

Stasi? KGB? Nah, just ‘Murica.

As for the various debates about if there is space to hold it all…. Of course there is, but also: Convert it to text and there’s no more space issues. There’s not a problem with archiving every word said by every person, ever. It’s audio and video that take up a lot of space.

Anyway… after the IRS just admitted it could read our email without a warrant… And after previous whistleblowing … it’s become clear that the people closer to the truth are the Big Brother Conspiracy Theorists, not the Government Apologists.

And yes, the Obama Administration has a direct hand in making things worse, not better.

Daniel H adds:

As a result of this “expanding array of theater airborne and other sensor networks,” as a 2007 Department of Defense report puts it, the Pentagon is attempting to expand its worldwide communications network, known as the Global Information Grid, to handle yottabytes (1024 bytes) of data. (A yottabyte is a septillion bytes—so large that no one has yet coined a term for the next higher magnitude.)

It needs that capacity because, according to a recent report by Cisco, global Internet traffic will quadruple from 2010 to 2015, reaching 966 exabytes per year. (A million exabytes equal a yottabyte.) In terms of scale, Eric Schmidt, Google’s former CEO, once estimated that the total of all human knowledge created from the dawn of man to 2003 totaled 5 exabytes.
—–

This type of facility, if actually scaled up to yottabyte level, could EASILY handle all voice communication on the commercial telephone network. And this isn’t a tinfoil fantasy, it’s being built right now.

POLITICS: Noam Chomsky: Obama’s Attack on Civil Liberties Has Gone Way Beyond Imagination

A great interview with a great man.

At least some people on the left can acknowledge that Obama is not really left or liberal.

The amazing part is how people just plug their fingers into their ears and pretend like none of this is real.

FREEDOM: New York City bike tour bicyclers not allowed to carry hydration packs for security purposes

Further proof that every time something goes bad, we respond to it by taking away freedom.

Remember how unfair it was when the teacher punished the whole class because ONE person chewed gum?

One would hope our leaders would be more mature than that.

One would be wrong.

Another city full of docile pussies who can’t stand up for their rights, and thus get them taken away in the name of safety.

I wonder how many more bombs have to go off before pockets are declared national security hazards?

THIN BLUE LINE: Officer who put camera in Glen Burnie High bathroom won’t be charged

In a police state, there are two sets of laws. One for “us”, and one for “them”.

If one of “us” were to install a hidden camera into a bathroom at a public high school – We’d go to jail, register as a sex offender, and possibly be forced to live under a highway overpass with no prospects for a job.

But if a cop does it?  The system protects him, gives him some kind of “punishment” so people can argue justice was served, but DOES NOT PRESS CHARGES. No sex offender registration for this seemingly-pedophile piggie.

And that’s what’s wrong with this situation, and to a further extent, this country.

GUNS: THIS. THIS is why people resist any kind of gun control.

Because the government intrinsically cannot practice any sort of ACTUAL judgment. Any rule will be flaunted and abused.

This father had his pistol license revoked — his constitutional rights denied — because his son talked about “threatening” a kid [a bully, even] with a water gun.

When the left says “We don’t want to take away your guns, we just want more regulation”, the right only need look to stories like this to completely and utterly vindicate every iota of their resistance to change.

[Notice, also, that nobody gives a shit about the actual bullying, something that people take with them beyond school and into their professional lives. You can bet some of the workplace mass shootings were against bullies who would have been a schoolplace mass shooting had their ages simply been younger.]

RELIGION: USPS Discriminates Against ‘Atheist’ Merchandise

America is full of religious assholes who want to violate the rights of people who don’t worship the same imaginary sky fairy as them

10 times more likely to lose a package that says atheist on it! And only in America, not in Germany.

The assholes are here. Everywhere.

This one is faced squarely on Christians, as they compose the majority of religious people here.

ABUSE OF AUTHORITY: Philly Cop Found Not Guilty for Punching Woman on Camera

Fucking ridiculous. That is all.

Let us remember Philadelphia Police Lt. Jonathan Josey as the violent thug that he is.

Let s remember Judge Patrick Dugan as the judge who ruled police can punch us in the face if we are holding a beer.

RELIGION: Cardinal Roger Mahony: I Forgive Those Who Are Angry at Me for Covering Up Child Rape

What a piece of shit. This guy is worse than the worst child molester you can imagine.

The commenters are right: The Catholic Church needs to be charged under RICO organized crime laws.

If you tithe, you’re paying for rape. Period.

MUSIC + TV SHOWS: Former Ween member Mickey Melchiondo (Dean Ween) sets sights on reality TV stardom with Primus co-star and South Park producers

WAR ON ALCOHOL: Drunk Driving Permits

I think this is a much better solution than our dead-child-illogic-induced constitutional-shredding.  Drunk driving permits. Brilliant. My idea was more of a “drunk driving hour” (the hour after bars close), but this is a more organized approach. I like the purple flashing lights…
