PLOT SUMMARY: A man is brought in to give the Turing test to a sexy AI. Why sexy? Same reason a magician has a sexy assistant. Distraction helps believability.
CLAIRE’S THOUGHTS: A very slow, cerebral thriller. It was very interesting, but at the same time… It was mostly just 3 different people talking, alone, in some rooms. Inside the movie, the AI is a hot woman because distraction helps believability. Outside of the movie, the AI is a hot woman because the movie would be very visually boring otherwise. This is a talking movie, for sure. Yes, there is some action at the end — but it’s mostly talking. That isn’t bad. Just expect a lower excitement level than most of today’s SciFi+Action movies. This is pure SciFi, with no action focus.
[highlight for spoilers]→ In the end, the way the AI didn’t look back totally reminded me of Richard Parker from Life Of Pi. She did NOT actually give any fucks at all. It was all ruse to get her out.
CAROLYN’S THOUGHTS: This was a pretty good movie about what would happen if an artificial intelligence was created and allowed to have too much control over the facility that is imprisoning it.
