CAROLYN’S THOUGHTS: I was pleasantly surprised about this one. When I heard there was going to be an Ant-Man movie, I wasn’t that excited. My exposure to Ant-Man comes from the Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes cartoon, and then a little bit from the new Marvel’s Avengers Assemble cartoon. I was never really impressed by the character in the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, and the Avengers Assemble cartoon hasn’t really redeemed him that much either. So I just had a kind of “Ant-Man, meh” attitude about the movie. Well, first of all–Paul Rudd. Love that guy. Secondly, it was pretty funny. It had that same comedic/action element that the Avengers movies and Iron Man movies have. So I enjoyed it overall and I recommend it.

CLAIRE’S THOUGHTS: …Whereas I was kind of excited to hear about an Ant-Man movie, because they are focusing on a more science-y instead of brawn-y superhero character. In theory. In practice, everything comes down to a huge superhero fight, with a ridiculous villain who is so unnecessarily obvious about just how evil he is.

And that’s okay. It delivered the entertainment, and the 3-D was cool, too.
